Drink Inspiration
Well I like to research products and brands before any competition. I love the idea of taking the imbiber on a journey of some kind, through sensation of smell, texture and taste. I really wanted to pay homage to 209s wine roots, so the incorporation of grape was essential for me. I personally get a magnificent lemon bouquet from 209, so I wanted to enhance this, as well as give sharpness to the drink. There are also some beautiful floral notes and some more subtle and hard to find spicier notes too, so I found that Jasmine really complimented the drink. Once shaken, the egg white forms foam on top, sprinkle ground ginger and that’s your drink. When you first bring it up to your nose, the ginger gives a spicy, dryness which as you take a sip you are met by the texture of the foam. As soon as the liquid hits your tongue, it’s not only ice cold; it’s smooth and slightly bitter, completely opposite from what you were expecting. The finish is long and leaves a tingle at the back of your throat from the ginger, thus making you want another sip... July 28th, well it’s the 209th day of the year (I did my math).
