1.33 oz.: No. 209 Gin
1.00 oz.: Nardini Rabarbaro
1.00 oz.: Crème de Griottes (Homemade)

Combine ingredients and stir on ice. Strain into chilled coupette.

Drink Inspiration

I’ve been a big fan of 209 since it arrived in the UK. There are so many new gins on the market at the moment, very few of which are at all special. 209 is an exception. It is exceptionally smooth, uses great quality botanicals and the bergamot note is unique. It is the bergamot note that I complement in my drink. Nardini Rabarbaro is a delicious product-sweet and bitter with a strong rhubarb flavor, but also a host of other herbs it mixes exceptionally well with No. 209. Crème de Griottes comes to cut the sweetness of the Rabarbaro. This homemade griottes has only 90 grams of sugar per liter. Combining all 3 gives us the balance of fruit, sour, sweet and bitter that is the basis of the Negroni. With the Napa Negroni, we are getting sweet bitter and herbal notes from the Rabarbaro, and sour and fruity notes from the Crème de Griottes. So despite only having gin in common with a Negroni, it is sufficiently similar in character that it seems appropriate to still call it one.
